It is often said that in order to see the change, you must be the change. Keeping it real, Inder Bajwa, a renowned model from Jalandhar, Punjab has switched careers so that he can make his village a drugs-free place.
This intention came out strongly after he suffered losing his 17 year old cousin to drug abuse. After that, he wanted to make sure that no other life gets consumed by drugs, at least in his village.
Inder, in 2005 left his village Bajwa Kalan near Jalandhar to make something worthwhile out of his passion for modeling. He was 23 years old when he took this decision. After working hard he made a place for himself in the list of top male models of the fashion industry. Inder’s last assignment featured him as face of ‘Raymond: the Complete Man’ campaign from 2011 to 2013.
He was also quiet active in the field of sports and is a former kabaddi player too. This inclination towards sports also strengthened his decision towards making a part of Punjab drugs-free with his contribution.
While in a conversation with one of the leading national dailies, Bajwa said, “I couldn’t feel Bombay anymore. I couldn’t watch from far, doing nothing. In the evenings, when there is no work, that is when people do drugs and I wanted to bring a change in that pattern.”
Talking about what all measures he is taking to get people distracted from drugs and attracted towards something healthy is that he recently built up a kabaddi ground with his bare hands and restored his village kabaddi team. He also gathered funds to build a gymnasium.
It takes a lot of courage to skip upon the dream and take up a responsibility towards society. We wish Inder Bajwa all the luck in fulfilling what he has taken on his plate. It takes guts, pure guts to start something like this.
