The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started a new ‘Yo Yo’ test to check the fitness levels of Indian cricketers. It is an advance software-based fitness test that can challenge the fitness of even the fittest cricketers.
Recently, at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh, reportedly, failed to clear the Yo Yo fitness test, and this was the reason why the selectors didn’t pick them for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Among Indian cricket fans, there is a common belief that captain Virat Kohli is the fittest cricketer. And, to be fair, the Indian captain works extremely hard on his body and he is one of the fittest cricketers in world cricket.
Virat Kohli has inspired many young Indian cricketers to give due importance to their diet, body and fitness. In fact, he has played a big role in creating an atmosphere in which all the young Indian cricketers spend a lot of time in gym and improving their fitness levels.
India’s newly appointed head coach Ravi Shastri is also keen on improving the fitness level of Indian cricketers and he has issued a strong warning that every player will have to clear the fitness test to be eligible for selection.
Recently,‘Yo Yo’ test was conducted simultaneously in Kandy and at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and results were compared to know who was the fittest amongst the lot and monitor their level. And, interestingly, Virat Kohli wasn’t the fittest Indian cricketer as per this test.
According to sources, Virat Kohli was piped to the post by Manish Pandey, who has the highest score of 19.2 as compared to Virat’s score of 19. Although, there isn’t much of a difference but, still, Manish Pandey’s performance in the test is very impressive and we hope he keeps working hard on his game and fitness.
